FAQ's

I get many questions about my involvement in Keeshonds and general questions about price, etc. so I hope to be able to answer some of these here.

I have been showing and breeding over 33 years. My first interest is showing my dogs but I also love to see the creation of a new generation of Champions.

We average less than one litter per year and I keep my numbers small in order to be able to spend time with each of the dogs.

Great care is taken to insure each of my dogs are health tested in order to provide future puppies with the best start in life possible. We test for PHPT, eyes, hips, elbows and patellas, at minimum, as recommended by our parent club, the Keeshond Club Of America. Proof of testing is provided.

Most of the dogs are at home in their own kennel building where they have complete access to going inside or out as they wish. The kennel is heated and has A/C as needed. The dogs are rotated inside the house for training, socialization and loving on them!

Puppies are born inside my house where I can monitor them. They graduate to the kennel at about 5 weeks and are eating solid food. Mom stays with them until she begins to wean them.

My puppies have early socialization by being taken outside and being exposed to various sounds, smells, textures ,surfaces, etc. I also take them to my grooming shop when old enough where they get to experience the smells and sounds of various dogs and other people while I go about my work day. And, of course, my clients love them! They also get used to being bathed, dried, groomed including nails trimmed during this time.

Puppies are evaluated at 8 weeks for show potential and then I make my final decision on who I will keep. Prior to this time I take puppy applications and a non-refundable deposit, then try to place the remaining puppies into the right home for them. If there are two puppies that might work for a family then they may choose but I do not take deposits on specific puppies. My goal is to place each puppy into the home that is best for that particular puppy.

Puppies may go to their new homes at 9 weeks old. By this time they have had their first vaccinations and been de-wormed.

Currently they are priced at $2, 000. (2022). I keep up with current prices for quality Kees in my area but, sadly, there are many places that sell low quality puppies whose parents have had no or little health testing and they will sell for the same price. My puppies come with a written health guarantee.

Hopefully I have answered some questions but feel free to ask about anything concerning my puppies.
